Encounters, pt.3

I received the coolest email from one of my readers about last week’s musings on “changing the conversation.” I’d like to share something she said:

“Sound has impact- is quite literally impact- energy moving matter around. I believe that changing my words/tone/intentionality, changes the essence of me. What resources I fostered, what I put in my heart, including the sound of my own words, is revealed by what comes out of me, so it’s kind of cyclically causal, you know?”

I just thought that was cool food for thought. If either of my last 2 emails got away from you, you can still read them here (pt 1) and here (pt2). Now it’s time for part 3!

Today I’ve got a BIG announcement for you.

… In a sec. First: Saturday, 15 November I’m doing a local release of the new G.T. Thomas single “Theater of Mirrors,” it’s just for the Amsterdam crowd that attends my release party event only.

But I wanted to share something titillating with ALL my loyal readers, even the ones who live too far to come get the song for free tomorrow, sooo… It’s my pleasure to present you with the beautiful, exotic artwork for “Theater of Mirrors,” by the brilliant, London-based illustrator, Kellie Strøm:
Can't see the image? You are missing out! Click here!
The song becomes available to download world-wide in mid-December, but for the next 30 days ONLY it will be possible to place your pre-order for it for €1. At the end of that 30-day period, the price will increase. Proceeds from the pre-orders of the single in the next 30 days will go toward the creation of my newest project. And that brings us to my…

Wait, you want to know what it is first? 😉 Okay, let me tell you more:

Since the release of my 2011 LP “The Luckless Pedestrian Years,” I’ve relished the challenge of finding a format that would be able to provide an experience for my listeners that offers them a getaway from the “clickety-clicks” of their computery lifestyles. Finding a format, which, in and of itself, is a work of art with the power to deepen my listeners’ encounter with my music. Ultimately, I’ve decided to turn my new songs into audio-souvenirs to remember a greater adventure by. An adventure that’s about YOU. This is what an Interactive Music Adventure Capsule is all about.

Built around 8 images from Kellie like the one above, 8 G.T. Thomas songs produced by Michael Leonhart, and letters from a deserted beach, a story unfolds over an 8-week period of time. From the comfort of your own home (where everything arrives in the mailbox for you), art, text, music, secret codes and interactive elements will turn you into the main character of this story, which will transport you to an experientally removed place… a pilgrimage for your mind, heart, and soul. Like I said, it’s an odyssey in a box!

Important to note: for the foreseeable future, all elements of this product –including digital downloads of my new songs– are ONLY available to those who pre-order within the next 30 days. Furthermore, the creation of this project will only be possible if enough people place pre-orders in that time-frame. (We rely on pre-orders to fund it.)

Team G.T. Thomas is managing the pre-orders through, tra-lala-laaa:

Our Kickstarter campaign, which officially launched approximately 60 minutes ago! *Woooo hooooo!* 😀 And I call upon ye who wish to support me to go scope out the campaign and make a pledge today!

You’re surely asking many questions! But why should I try to type out an explanation when I can show you what it’s going to feel like to be the recipient of one of these capsules? Check the video:

This is a project for the people who believe that –even in the age of digital downloads– it’s still possible for art and music to show up in your life in a way/ shape/ form that is magical and transformative.

I really truly feel nothing but love for each person reading this. It means you’re curious. And curiosity will take us forward together. I love that!

PS- Next week I’ll let you know how the “Theater of Mirrors” event goes, share pics maybe some video (I hope) and more! xo
